Weiden. Die Blue Devils freuen sich über eine weitere Vertragsverlängerung für die kommende Saison: Mittelstürmer Aleš Jiřík bleibt den Weidenern in der Spielzeit 2016/2017 erhalten. Der 34-jährige Deutsch-Tscheche geht damit in seine dritte Saison bei den Oberpfälzern.

Trainer Markus Berwanger und Teammanager Christian Meiler halten große Stücke auf den Stürmer, der in der abgelaufenen Spielzeit mit neun Toren und 42 Vorlagen der punktbeste Spieler seines Teams und einer der besten Vorlagengeber der Oberliga Süd war. Gerade im Saisonendspurt, als die Weidener in den Play-Offs erst Sonthofen bezwingen und später den großen Favoriten EV Regensburg gehörig ärgern konnten, gehörte der Linksschütze zu den unumstrittenen Leistungsträgern seiner Mannschaft. „Aleš war in der vergangenen Saison unser Denker und Lenker im Sturm“, lobt Teammanager Meiler den 34-jährigen Routinier für seine Qualitäten als Führungsspieler. „Seine Leistungen und seine professionelle Einstellung haben für uns den Ausschlag gegeben, ihn weiter mit einem Vertrag auszustatten.“

In den vergangenen beiden Spielzeiten absolvierte Aleš Jiřík, der im Sommer 2014 von den Erding Gladiators nach Weiden gewechselt war, insgesamt 94 Partien für die Blue Devils, erzielte dabei 22 Tore und steuerte 75 Torvorlagen (97 Scorerpunkte) bei.
